Serving Our Community

We are commanded by Christ to love our neighbors as ourselves. To Christ, serving is not optional. CCCH local outreaches empower all of us to be come everyday servants.

Reaching Beyond Ourselves.

Reaching Beyond Ourselves (RBO) is a ministry that leads CCCH through local projects centering around DuPage PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter). The group makes and serves lunch the first Saturday of the month - October through April - at the PADS shelter at St. Luke Presbyterian Church in Downers Grove. They also host overnight stays at another PADS site, First Congregational Church in Downers Grove, for several Mondays in January. To get more information on the RBO Ministry, contact Lisa Shaw at lkas@uic.edu or Kim Brown at klb1972a@gmail.com. For more information on PADS, visit www.dupagepads.org.

RBO is also responsible to organize and lead certain donation drives at CCCH through out the year, which include a school supplies drive for underserved children, coat, hat and glove drive, blood drives, and pantry drives.

We encourage you to serve your community by partnering with local organizations that are investing in lives all over the area. Whether it be at-risk children, the homeless, or single moms, consider beginning life-changing relationships and serving locally. Local organizations include:

  • People's Resource Center exists to respond to basic human needs, promote dignity and justice, and create a future of hope and opportunity for the residents of DuPage County, Illinois. www.peoplesrc.org

Christmas Toy Resale

Each December, CCCH hosts a Christmas Toy Resale to bless local families who are struggling financially. Members have the opportunity to donate gently used toys, and volunteer their time before and during the sale. All toys are sold for under $2.00, with the proceeds going to LOVE Christian Clearinghouse. To get involved, contact Michelle Mobley at 630-969-4653.
