In May, 1957, a group of Christians formed the LaGrange Church of Christ (Christian), and began holding Sunday School and Worship services at the local YMCA. Thirty-eight people attended on the first Sunday.
A year later, we were incorporated as the Brookfield Church of Christ (Christian) and, with the help of the Chicago District Evangelistic Association (CDEA), hired our first full-time minister.
In 1964 we purchased 5 acres of land in Clarendon Hills, Illinois. By 1966 we changed our name to the Christian Church of Clarendon Hills. While we waited for construction to be completed on our first building we met at Holmes Elementary School. By the time the building was completed we had grown to 122 members.
We still meet in the building built by the church founders however, it has undergone some redesigns through the years. Today, the church remains committed to biblically based teachings and life-impacting fellowship and community.
In the late 90's we started pursuing a specific mission that has molded the culture of our church. Our mission is to build loving relationships with God and people through Jesus Christ (Our Mission).
We have continued to grow throughout the years and currently average 400 people on Sunday mornings. Our attendance draws mainly from the western suburbs of Chicago. We offer a blended worship style pulling our music from both hymns and music with a much more contemporary flare. Our prayers and sermons are understandable and our classes are down to earth. We feature children's and teens activities and learning times with upbeat music and lessons that will impact them for life.
We have a vision to become a place where no one has to stand alone and we hope that you will take some time to visit us very soon. We have three services on Sunday mornings at 8:30, 9:45 and 11:15 am. We also offer a variety of classes and small groups throughout the week (e-mail ccch@ccch.org for more details).
